Nicole by OPI: Kardashing Through the Snow

PhotobucketHello there by beautiful readers. Happy Wednesday, we're almost to the weekend! Hang in there, just keep swimming! We got some snow yesterday where I am, wet icky snow. Yuck! I really do not like winter in Connecticut. Honestly, I need to just move already to somewhere warm!!! Where would you live if you could choose anywhere in the world? More realistically though, where would you live if you could pick any US state?

Onto the nail polish. Today I have one of the Kardashian Kolors holiday offerings. This is Kardashing Through the Snow. Nicole by OPI calls this a multi-hue glitter. When I saw the promo images for this one I was excited, it looked amazing. I didn't realize it was going to be so sheer! I wanted to swatch this one on my bare nails to show you the true color and finish but to me, this is most definitely a topcoat. I think this would look nice over green, white or red for the holiday season, maybe even a nice silver.

The glitter in this one is suspended in a clear base and is pretty fine in nature. It's got that glitter grit thing going on but a nice thick topcoat will take care of that that right away.

Overall, it's just "meh" to me. I will play around with it for some holiday looks but I am not overly excited about this one.

What do you think?

Pretty & Polished: It Gets Better and Mannequin Hands

Hello everyone! So sorry I haven't posted in a while. Sometimes life catches up to me and I get lazy LOL. No excuses. I apologize!

Today I want to feature two polishes from the indie brand Pretty & Polished. Pretty & Polished is an Etsy store run by the lovely Chels Marie. I love supporting small businesses and this is a great one to check out if you're into nail polish, especially unique and fun glitters. I am going to show you two today, but I have a few more to swatch for the future as well.

First up is the gorgeous It Gets Better. Here's a blurb from Chels' store about the inspiration behind this color which I think is worth reading if you have the chance:

PhotobucketThis polish was made for the "It Gets Better Project". The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.I created this polish for all of the people I have lost to bullying. I understand not everyone agrees with my views on human rights and that is ok. I made this polish so that I could donate 50% of the profits to an organization that I appreciate. The It Gets Better pledge: "Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I'll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I'll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other bullied teens by letting them know that it gets better."
This polish is a mint green crelly (creme/jelly base) packed full of multicolor holo hexes.
Cool right?! You can feel great about supporting this cause and the color is absolutely stunning!

Chels has been working hard on the brands new printed bottles and I think they look fantastic! Take a look for yourself:

Love that color and the bottles are awesome! The photos shown are two coats. I think you can get away with two but you might want to use three since the base is pretty sheer. I love the underlying mint green color, it's just beautiful and squishy looking! Squee!!

Next up is Mannequin Hands a name which all you polish loves will understand and love. This takes the concept of Mannequin Hands and fancies it up a little. Chels describes this color as: "a very light skin tone base and is packed with pastel pink hex glitters." I think one is a great color for work! Below is the old style full sized bottle, I believe Chels is moving away from those and onto the new printed bottles I showed above.  This is two coats.

What do you think of these two beauties? I love them both but It Gets Better is just stunning to me!

Be sure to check out Chels' store on Etsy, I think you'll find tons of unique colors to add to your collections. You can catch up with Chels on Instgram under the name prettyandpolishd too! While you're at it, follow me on there, I'm primandpolishedblog.

OPI: Skyfall

Photobucket
Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Sorry I haven't posted in a few days!

Today I want to introduce you to the beautiful OPI Skyfall. This is a stunning "oxblood" maroon creme and it's a really hot tone for this fall/winter season. Skyfall is the namesake for the Skyfall Collection. I got so many compliments while wearing this color. It's classic but trendy at the same time. I think any skin tone can rock this and look beautiful.

The formula on this is lovely but I think you can see I did have some balding on my middle finger, so just be careful. Honestly, it was probably my quick application but just make sure to take your time and you should have a really beautiful creme finish. I love the shine on this one.

OPI: The World is Not Enough

Hello lovelies! I hope you're all having a wonderful week!  Today I have another stunner from the OPI Skyfall Collection. This is The World is Not Enough. This color reminds me of MAC's Club eyeshadow, it's a reddish brown, no it's a tealish brown, no it's purple, it's an enigma!

The finish on the is stunning. It's just so shimmery. I absolutely adore this. It's perfect for fall!

I used two coats for the opacity shown and had zero issues with application. No streaking or balding to be found.

It's beautiful right?!?!!?! What do you think?

OPI: Goldeneye

Happy Friday everyone? What are you all up to this weekend? I hope you have something fun planned!

Today I want to show you Goldeneye from OPI's Skyfall Collection. So far almost this entire collection has been a big hit with me, this color is no exception. Goldeneye is a gorgeous warm tarnished gold shimmer. This color looks exactly like the MAC eye shadow in Amber Lights. It's absolutely beautiful and flattering to a bunch of skin tones. I think this would look AMAZING on darker skin tones especially. This is a really nice fall color too, it reminds me of when the leaves turn that amazing yellow. Just beautiful. This is actually a unique color in my collection if you can believe it. I have many golds but nothing this rich and warm, so I have no dupes for this one.

I used two coats for the opacity shown below. This is a really gorgeous shimmer and I had no issues with application at all, no balding or streaking at all with this one.

Isn't this so pretty!? What do you think!?

Guess what!!? This is my 500th Post! Wooo-hhoooo!!

Thanks so much to all of you who have been following this blog for so long and to all of my new readers too. You're all amazing for checking in each week to see what has been posted. I am working on a giveaway to celebrate this milestone and my 3 year Blog-iversary so give me a few weeks to sort that out. Stay tuned.!

OPI: The Living Daylights (over black)

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking in with me today. I have another color from the Skyfall Collection to share with you, this time it's a glitter.  This is The Living Daylights and I am showing it here over back. It's a multicolored large particle hex glitter suspended in a clear base. That's why I decided to swatch it over black. In terms of glitter color, to my eye it's got teal, orange, gold, and silver glitter particles. It's quite fun.  I used two coats of it here over the black. I find it disbursed easily and wasn't too tough to work with as some large glitters can be.

What do you think of this one? Do you have it in your collection?

Check out Chalkboard Nails for the most amazing jelly sandwich using The Living Day Lights and Don't Touch My Tutu. I am trying that next! Love it!

OPI Live and Let Die

Admittedly this post is a bit pic heavy but I had to include tons of photos because this is a rare polish my friends. This is a Live and Let Die by OPI (Skyfall collection) and it, ladies and gentleman, is a ONE COATER. You read that right. This baby was fully opaque in just ONE coat.  Amazing right?

Live and Let Die is a highly pigmented smoky hunter green with tons of gold microshimmer. This is a stunner. It, like Mary Poppins, is practically perfect in every way. First off, it's absolutely beautiful. It's not too dark that you lose the green, it's really balanced and well thought out. I love deep dark rich greens and add a gold shimmer and you have me floored. Then add in the fact that the formula is so perfect it's fully opaque in one coat and you've got me.

I can't get over the perfection that is this polish. If you love greens you need this in your life. Of all of the many many many many many polishes in my collection there are very few, if any, that are opaque in one coat. When that happens I have to tell the world. I have to make sure everyone knows. Have I mentioned this is a ONE COATER! Honestly, just get a load of this beauty:

Are you okay? Do you need to take a moment to drink it all in? I know!!! It was love at first sight for me with this one. Congratulations OPI, I'm smitten!

Have you gotten your hands on this one yet? If not absolutely give it a try. It's one of the best polishes I have used in a long time. I can't say a negative thing about it.
